Bimetallic coin with a gold-coloured inner disc and silver-coloured outer ring bearing twelve stars. The obverse depicts the Gothic west façade of Notre-Dame de Paris in high relief, with the inscriptions 'RF', '2025', and 'NOTRE DAME DE PARIS'. The reverse bears the standard European 2 euro design: the numeral '2', a map of Europe, and the inscription 'EURO'.

Historical Context

Notre-Dame de Paris, the medieval Gothic cathedral on the Île de la Cité, suffered a devastating fire on 15 April 2019 that destroyed its spire and much of the roof. An international restoration effort lasting five years culminated in the cathedral's solemn reopening in December 2024. France issued this commemorative 2 euro coin in 2025 to celebrate that milestone and honour one of the world's most iconic architectural monuments.
